VISIO 75-Inch vs LG UT80: webOS TV Comparison (2026)

VISIO 75-Inch vs LG UT80: webOS TV Comparison (2026)

Here is a comparison that sounds like it should be lopsided and is not. Two 75-inch 4K televisions. Both LED. Both 60Hz. Both with three HDMI ports. Both running webOS not a lookalike, not a skin, the same operating system LG built.

One of them costs considerably more than the other. This article is about what that difference actually buys.

Why this comparison is different

Most TV comparisons are really platform comparisons in disguise. Half the budget screens sold in the region run unlicensed Android with no Play Store and no Netflix certification, so the "comparison" collapses into one screen that streams properly and one that does not.

That is not the case here. LG created webOS and licenses it to other manufacturers, and the VISIO 75VSSU3webOS runs the licensed article  the same app store, the same certified Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and Disney+, the same interface language. Both screens even ship with a Magic Remote.

So the usual argument is off the table, and what is left is the honest comparison: processor, picture processing, software support, tuners, and price.

Where LG genuinely wins

The processor, and therefore the upscaling

This is LG's real advantage and it is not a small one. The α5 AI Processor 4K Gen7 does the work of turning a lower-resolution source into something that looks right on a 75-inch panel. Most viewing in Saudi homes is not native 4K  it is satellite channels and broadcast content at 1080p or below, and on a screen this large the quality of that upscaling is more visible than any panel specification.

A generic quad-core processor does the job. LG's does it better. If most of what you watch is standard-definition satellite, weight this row heavily.

Guaranteed software upgrades

LG's webOS Re:New programme commits to four OS upgrades over five years. That is a written commitment that the interface and app compatibility will keep moving forward, and very few manufacturers at any price offer it in writing.

This is the row that matters most in year four. A television that stops receiving platform updates does not break  it just slowly stops working with apps that have moved on.

HDR10 Pro and HLG

LG adds HLG, used by some broadcast HDR, and its HDR10 Pro tone mapping. On a 60Hz LED panel at this price neither transforms the picture, but it is a real specification difference rather than a marketing one.

Slimmer and lighter

6.0 cm deep against 7.5 cm, and 31.4 kg against 35 kg. If you are wall mounting onto a hollow block wall, three and a half kilograms is worth knowing about see the wall mounting guide on why wall type matters more than bracket rating.

Where VISIO wins

The price, which is the entire argument

At 2,050 SAR for a 75-inch licensed-webOS screen, the VISIO sits well below what LG's own UT80 costs at the same size. Everything above has to be weighed against that gap. A better processor is worth paying for; whether it is worth this much depends on what you watch and what else you would do with the difference.

A useful way to think about it: the price gap is roughly the cost of a decent soundbar. On a 20W, 2.0-channel television  which both of these are a soundbar improves the experience more than an upscaling chip does.

The built-in satellite receiver

The VISIO has DVB-S2 built in, so satellite goes straight into the television with no separate receiver, no second remote and no extra HDMI input consumed. For a majlis that runs satellite channels most of the day, that is a daily convenience rather than a specification.

Local warranty service

A 75-inch panel cannot be posted. If it fails, someone comes to your home or collects it. Two years with service handled inside the Kingdom is worth asking about carefully  for both brands. Ask each seller who performs the service, where the nearest centre is, and the stated turnaround for a panel fault.

Bluetooth 5.2

A minor point honestly stated: 5.2 against 5.1 makes no practical difference to anyone.

What is identical, and worth saying plainly

  • The operating system. Same webOS, same LG Content Store, same certified streaming apps. Neither screen will leave you without an app you use.
  • The Magic Remote. Both include the pointer remote. This is often listed as a premium feature  here it is a draw.
  • Panel class and refresh rate. Both LED, both 60 Hz. Neither is a gaming display; if you want 120 Hz, neither of these is your television.
  • Ports. Three HDMI and two USB on both. LG's eARC on HDMI 2 is the better implementation if you are running a modern soundbar; the VISIO's ARC handles the common case.

The verdict

Buy the LG UT80 if: most of your viewing is standard-definition or 1080p satellite and you want the best available upscaling; you keep televisions a long time and want a written commitment to software upgrades; or brand and resale value carry weight in your decision.

Buy the VISIO 75" if: you want the largest licensed-webOS screen your budget reaches; you watch mostly 4K streaming, where the upscaling advantage matters far less; you want satellite built in without a separate box; or you would rather spend the difference on a soundbar and a proper wall mount, which will change your day-to-day experience more than the processor will.

For a large majlis where the screen runs streaming and satellite and the room is more than three metres deep, the VISIO is the better use of the money. For a household that watches a lot of lower-resolution broadcast content on a big panel, LG's processing earns its premium.

Frequently asked questions

Is VISIO's webOS the same as LG's webOS?

It is the licensed platform, with the same LG Content Store and the same certified streaming apps. LG's own sets run the newest numbered release with a guaranteed upgrade path; check which webOS version the specific VISIO unit ships with if long-term upgrades matter to you.

Is a 75-inch TV too big for a Saudi living room?

Rarely. At a seating distance of 2.3 metres or more, 75 inches sits in the comfortable range for 4K. Most majlis rooms are well past that. Our size guide works through it room by room.

Does the processor difference actually show?

On native 4K streaming, barely. On standard-definition satellite blown up to 75 inches, yes  that is exactly the situation upscaling exists for. Answer honestly what you watch most.

Do both have Netflix in 4K?

Both run licensed webOS with certified apps, so yes. This is the specification that separates a real smart TV from a cheap one, and both clear it  see how the platforms compare.

Is 1.5 GB of RAM enough?

On webOS, generally yes it is a television-specific system with far less overhead than Android, which is why it stays responsive on hardware that would struggle otherwise. We go through what actually causes slowdowns in why your smart TV freezes.
